Wealdstone, who we play on Saturday, were one of the clubs keen on ending the season. I wonder if they’ll choose to save money by furloughing their first-team squad and playing their kids….

If the NL season does finish, no matter how chaotic, will the efl have any grounds to try and stop relegation? I imagine they’d be a lot keener to swap Barrow and Stevenage for Notts County and Hartlepool for example than they would Grimsby and Southend for ourselves and Eastleigh. So it could end up as a wait and see situation from their point of view, it could be like the days of re-election. Regardless of what happens we should be mightily proud that this still concerns us I say bollo@cks to that, if we win our EFL place, I will be marching up Lancaster Gate with my placard

Edit: still, the FA is a bit nearer at Wembley.

To be fair to Wealdstone, even though they voted to end the season, they've never indicated that they will furlough players and play reserve or academy players, even when they released their statement. So I expect them to carry on as normal.

Bit of a nothing statement really, but it's saying more than it's saying if you get me. It's a positioning statement where Kings Lynn are saying "We're going to try our best but we can't promise anything", which perhaps the league could use for lobbying purposes. This isn't the Dover approach at all who are not going to try and do anything, but more that Kings Lynn know the season are going to carry on, but perhaps if they get to a position where they can't field teams then the league would be more lenient if sanctions come their way. If I were in charge of Kings Lynn, it's certainly the approach I'd take rather than Dovers. As a side note, Kings Lynn's reserves/U21's (whichever they are depending on what source you read) play in the Eastern Counties Div one North, not in a specific academy or youth league. Therefore they will have players who are registered to play for them.

My last views on this....
Firstly some good articles out there on the World Wide Web (bbc sport - two decent one’s with DOS engaging with some thought provoking ideas).
I’ll leave the thread with this:
AFC Fylde (NL relegation zone) First lockdown last season tweeted out season should be curtailed as this virus has no barriers)
AFC Fylde (NLN 2nd with three games in hand on Gloucester City who are top 🔝) Have tweeted today we will not stop until the NLN season re-starts.
Self interest in motion - the problem with football ⚽️.
Needs a revamp I believe all the way down the divisions....

So as Dover refuse to play, they should be expelled, or should they be allowed to pick and choose when they play?

So as Dover refuse to play, they should be expelled, or should they be allowed to pick and choose when they play? From a league point of view not much has changed aside from the fact Dover can't use the resolution as an excuse anymore. If they refuse to play, the league will have to charge them and then they need to plea their case. At the moment, as far as I'm aware they are the only side refusing to play outright. The wheels have already started, and they've been charge twice under rule 8.39 - www.doverathletic.com/news/national-league-charges-dover-twice/ - one of those I expect would be to do with them not playing us. They are not changing their position. Let's see who blinks first. If at all.

So as Dover refuse to play, they should be expelled, or should they be allowed to pick and choose when they play? As OS said in the "Dover game is off" thread... "Any Club without just cause failing to fulfil an engagement to play a Competition match on the appointed date shall for each offence be liable to expulsion from the Competition and/ or such other disciplinary action the Board may determine, including the deduction of up to a maximum of three points from the offending Club’s record, any expenses incurred by their opponents, and a fine." So it would really be down to Dover to show "just cause" for refusing to play. It's an unprecedented situation so it may well be arguable, but in my view, it's a risky road to go down...

Just for info, rule 8.39 is
Rule 8.39 says: "Any Club without just cause failing to fulfil an engagement to play a Competition match on the appointed date shall for each offence be liable to expulsion from the Competition and/ or such other disciplinary action the Board may determine, including the deduction of up to a maximum of three points from the offending Club’s record, any expenses incurred by their opponents, and a fine.
"In the event of a Club being in breach of the previous paragraph of this Rule then the Board may award points to the Club not at fault as if the match had been played and the League table shall reflect the position as if the match had been played with the result awarded by the Board."
The two charges relate to our game on Tuesday and their match at home to Kings Lynn tomorrow, which Dover have already stated they will refuse to play.
Lots of maybes in there so we don't know what will actually happen yet.

Bad financial management is at the core of this ,so they should not be allowed to get away with it
