Nice article, Billy. I started going with my dad in spring 68 and after that we went to virtually every game together, home and away, for 18 years. After we were promoted to the Conference he went to fewer of the away games but I would still take him to every home game into his 80s.

Made me think of my Dad who started taking me and my brother just after the Leeds game. Some of my school friends also went and my dad took us to local away games in the car. This continued well into my late teenage years and my dad would get the beers in for my mates and I. Special times. I remember your dad davef and many others who have sadly passed away but without the football club I would never have met them.

This is interesting from the BBC NL page:
=============⚽️
Stockport County have signed Chorley pair Elliot Newby, 25, and Harry Cardwell, 24, on loan until the end of the season.
The duo join after the National League North season was halted following a vote of member clubs across the sixth tier last week.
Anyone we can pick up from Dorking or Havant (come on down Tommy Wright)...

It’s fascinating all this.... You have clubs like Dover, Kings Lynn and now Wealdstone basically packing up and you have Torquay, N County & Stockport signing players.. The NL board is quiet....it’s like it’s Christmas 🎄 Eve for them.

Following on from Sol’s point is there anyone from our B team ( Havant) who would get into our side at the moment - I think not - we don’t really have a weakness - unless we lose Tanto

I daresay that Stockport can afford a couple more players on their wage bill. I'm not sure that we can.

Just shows what a bit of cash can do. They are quality players. Newby was sensational in their cup run. Game on everyone. Kbb

The National League really needs to provide clarity for all clubs asap as to the consequences for clubs not fulfilling their fixtures. The current uncertainty is turning this season into a farce.

Kings Lynn town are doing a fund raising to see out the season now. Further to Delboy's earlier post, their fund raising is different to ours, they anticipate they need around £100,000 to get through to the end of May and they are asking for pledges of £300. They have already received a donation of a four figure sum on behalf of a recently deceased gentleman,as well as another large four figure donation from someone who wanted to remain anonymous, so their scheme looks to have been well received in the Norfolk area

However the owner has said they need £300k to complete the season. They were £140k short last season!
