? I am not sure that many on here have understood some of my recent posts, particularly the one about DoF, and the last one about being a Saudi 'pub team' Put simply everything at this club has changed in the past 12-18 months, basically every position above M.G has changed. We have a COO / COE / Commecial Manger / Project Manager / Football Consultant / DoF / Media has changed too etc etc. Our little club 'pub team' is now multi million pound commercial business, its future and its control does not lie with the old guardians who did such a fantasic job for so many years. The club is going through a transition, and decisions are now made thousands of miles away by its major shareholders. In all honesty, it sounds more like you don't understand what you've posted. The DoF position has been explained to you many times, and it's obvious you have not contacted the club to ask for clarification of that role, preferring to let your imagination decide what it is. The management committee, who decide all of the major decisions of the club, have all been associated with the club for years and have not changed in the last 18 months. The directors have not changed. The majority shareholders have not changed. Your "Saudi money" reference is a reference to a shareholder who came on board in 2017. Gary Otto came on board in 2021 after extensive discussions with the club. You know, those "guardians who did such a fantastic job". Yet you equate the two. And of course Tim is in the same group. Yet of course he lives thousands of miles away, and is involved every single day in the running of the club. In fact here's there at every game, doing a sterling job at the coal face. Your post is hugely disingenuous and perhaps if you actually read things even a little bit more than davethegrave, you wouldn't actually post such nonsense. And whilst you make all these incorrect assumptions, you can't point to any examples where this "new regime" has impacted Sutton in a negative enough way for you to be critical of them. www.suttonunited.net/about/governance/www.suttonunited.net/news/2021/march/if-you-cant-beat-them-join-them/www.suttonunited.net/about/general-info/podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/meeting-martin/id1359281844?i=1000586474481If you'd prefer us to be a tinpot Isthmian league outfit, then please let us know. At least then we can understand where you are coming from. Because at the moment, you're so utterly wide of the mark.

At least half of this thread has nothing whatsoever to do with the Rochdale match, so I might as well join in and add my two pennies worth.
Perhaps I can look at all the comments made on this board from a slightly different perspective than most, insofar as some long-standing Sutton United supporters might consider me a “newcomer” or an “interloper”. I have previously said on here I’ve only been a season ticket holder at SU since last season and only joined this forum after I decided to buy a ST. However, I’ve also said previously that I’ve long been acquainted with SU and very aware of its history and its principles. I might not previously have called myself a “SU supporter”, but I’ve seen more than 200 games at GGL in the 40+ years I’ve lived in Surrey.
Of course, I’m a lifelong supporter of Huddersfield Town and had a ST until Covid interrupted. Ideally, I’d still prefer to see Town all the time, but I’m 68 now and the 450 mile round trip for a home game is no fun anymore. Being resident in Sutton (The Gallop) until last year but now in Walton on the Hill, going to GGL is both convenient and (largely) enjoyable. I still watch Town when I can and they will always be no. 1 to me.
I grew up watching league football at all levels, mainly Championship, but from PL to L2 (or Division 4 in old money) seeing countless games at clubs like Bradford City (when they were truly poor), Bradford Park Avenue, Halifax Town, Aldershot and Crawley. More so than non-league, although I’ve seen many non-league games at just about all the grounds within 20 miles or so of Sutton/Epsom) from Chipstead to Carshalton to Woking.
What I observe (and this is just my opinion) is that Sutton United (as a club) has slightly unexpectedly found itself in L2 whilst still having essentially a non-league structure. Obviously, the club has had to deal with the basic fact that GGL isn’t really of FL standard. Obligations to bring it up to the required standard are onerous and ongoing and inevitably impacting on things like the playing budget. I’m sure that the Board realises that it has to somehow grow the club; this will inevitably mean change. I’m certain the club will do everything it can to try to maintain its ethos whilst gradually becoming “more professional”. That has to include having their own training ground. Take it from me, footballers place huge importance on the quality of the training ground, after all, it is their place of work. The views of one poster on here concerning the new training ground were just nonsensical.
So be it. I believe that the club really wants to establish itself as a league team, but I really am not sure I can say the same for all of its supporters. I get the impression (perhaps wrongly) that some fans yearn for the “innocence” of non-league (and I get that too) and I think that based on comments I hear at games and on comments made on here by some posters. By the way, this forum is actually incredibly quiet compared to every other club I’m acquainted with, so I don’t understand why some posters find it difficult to keep up with the views of others.

Thanks but my role, and part ownership, isn't the most relevant point here (and this thread perhaps not the appropriate place to discuss it). What I might say is I would struggle to think of an example among the 91 others in our peer group where a club was more open to general and specific questioning on how it is run and who does what. It remains frustrating to read obvious errors of facts. As has been said I, and others, are around most days at the Club, and despite being busy am available to talk to at most home games - and many generously give their time to do just that. Alternatively suttonunited.proboards.com/thread/12322/fans-forum-7th-decemberthere are other ways to not just discover what we are doing, and why, but also for you to tell us what you want, and what we are not doing, and ask why. I would like to think we have an above average track record of at least listening and trying to improve things.

OS, you really need to take the time and make the effort to understand things. If you don't understand them, ask. But as Tim alludes to, and I'll be much more direct about. Stop spouting nonsense and trying to present them as facts. They're not.

Quite right, Google tells me I'm only a 617 mile drive from Sutton down here in Geneva <before it gets any more tense on here, this is a light-hearted joke, I'm very much a minority > Have missed the club this season as I've not been able to make it over. I watch Gandermonium and BBC Sport updates with trepidation at times and read the exchanges on here with a mixture of amusement and bemusement. Maybe I fall a little bit into the camp that Terrier describes. Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted to see Sutton in the Football League and holding their own. I'm delighted to see the club and stadium evolve, and for more fans to come through the gates. I certainly want to see the club (OK, next time I'm over) play engrossing football with the half chance we might score from open play every now and then. But boy am I comfortable with 17th place a third of the way through a tough, tough season when our budget is probably still part-way up the National League. That doesn't mean criticism and anguish at recent results or performances can't or mustn't be aired, but a good dollop of perspective is always a good side dish.

What a lovely train 🚆 journey and the chocolate (Ragusa - not sure if that’s correct) was just a delight BUT not as delightful as Veronica. 🎈⚽️

It's certainly a corker of a train journey, lovely at any time of year. 1-0 to the Swiss today, so all is well in the land of chocolate and fondue.
