Well, it is time for that win now, 2-1 Sutton? 😎

Realistically there are only four clubs in danger of relegation now, in my opinion, and Colchester United is one of them, so I have no qualms about calling this a real six-pointer and an absolute must-win game.
I can’t be in two places at one time so I’m afraid I’ll be missing this game. I’ll be at Vicarage Road.
Good luck Sutton.

For me this has to be a win , anything less and we are down . I’m not bothered by a clean sheet just the three points to drag us closer to Colchester who will surely see a point as a good result in that it keeps us at arms length . It’s boom or bust time . My prediction is a 4-3 win !

If we don't win this game, and the games v Grimsby and FGR, we have no hope in staying up..

I don't usually believe any game is a must-win, after all there is always 3 points available in the next game (unless it's the last game of the season), but this comes close. Not just because this is one of the best opportunities to get closer to the teams above us, or that it would deprive Colchester of points too, but also because unless we start winning soon, I fear the players will inevitably start to think it's all over, while a win would restore some confidence. I have a feeling we're going to do it. Mind you, I really thought we were going to beat Doncaster, Morecambe and Wrexham, so not sure my feelings are very reliable

Agree with others that the next three matches are really do or die for me. All winnable, so let’s treat these matches as last chance saloon and the players go out there and say, we are staying up.⚽️⚽️⚽️

Alistair Smith relishing U's challenge ahead of Sutton United return
Jonathan Waldron 5 hours ago
ALISTAIR Smith insists he is relishing the challenge of trying to keep Colchester United in League Two ahead of his return to former club Sutton United this weekend. Smith is preparing to go back to Gander Green Lane for the first time since leaving Sutton last summer, as the U’s go in search of a vital victory in their bid to pull away from League Two relegation danger. Colchester sit seven points above the drop zone with 14 games remaining and take on a Sutton side who are bottom of the table and seven points adrift from safety. Smith, who played 78 times for Sutton between 2021 and 2023 before leaving to join Lincoln City, says he is thriving under the pressure of keeping the U’s in the EFL. Smith said: “There’s no hiding from the position right now. “Every game is going to be a pressure game and games where we’re going to need to take points to get safe. “That’s a challenge that every footballer wants; you don’t want to be playing for nothing, like a pre-season game. “You would rather be playing under pressure and that’s where the real characters step up. “I had two really good seasons at Sutton and League Two is definitely not foreign to me.” Smith has started all four of Colchester’s games since joining them on loan from Lincoln, last month. The 24-year-old midfielder has already made a positive impact and says he is enjoying playing under Danny and Nicky Cowley. “Colchester is a place which I think is on the up with an excellent manager and assistant manager that really know their stuff and have had a great managerial career and there’s loads of talented players,” said Smith, who started his career at Mansfield Town. “Their energy is infectious; I found that straight away from the first phone call with the gaffer. “I got nothing but good vibes and good energy and it sort of made my mind up. “It’s certainly something that a player wants to be around and I’ve fitted in straight away. “Throughout my career so far, I’ve gone off the feel and the vibe you get from people – I think that stands you in good stead. “The position in the league doesn’t reflect the size of the club. “It’s a great stadium, great fanbase and just look at the facilities that are really good as well. “I played against Colchester quite a few times for Sutton and I know the fans are great.”

I just want to see a win, please. It’s been sooo long.
I think the players deserve a win. Effort has been there. Deserving and getting are 2 different things though.

I have never bought this must win, with various games, with so many games left. The real must, is that we must find winning form, be it this game or any other game. This next game is a must win as all of them are now, peticuarly as we are at home, and of course as it will also guarantee Colchester dont get any points. I think we can win it but it depends on the referee and if we take our chances. It would also be handy if we do not gift them any goals..

Slightly confusing as we're also the U's, but it's nice to see Ali is enjoying his football.

Refs make mistakes time and time again, but I hope there isn't an implication here that "refs are against Sutton" because that of course would be nonsense. We just have to score more goals than Colchester. That's all that matters

I don't normally do score predictions, but this match has 1-1 absolutely screaming at it.

I note the preview reports no fresh injuries presume that means the likes of Rose Beautyman Clay Milsom remain unfit.
