Ok so we got spanked by Barking many moons ago and the defeat at Yeading in the FA Cup was hard to take but at least that was away...
I cannot believe that we can go 1 up after a minute against a side 2 levels lower and end up drawing.
I have a lot to say about certain situations but now is not the right time.
I just thank god that I am not watching this football live week in week out nowadays,

Would love to hear what anyone has to say. I came up from Portsmouth for this one. It was supposed to be a faith and form restoring certain victory. I'm not complaining but I would love the thoughts of those more 'in the know'. I thought the support was really good.

Shame its only the fans who seem to have any passion about this club.
That was a f*cking awful result against a poor side.
I almost hope that we go crashing out at the replay so that there can be some changes to turn this sh*t around before its too late.

I am totally distraught over that shambles today you could see we were 10 times better individually but lack of spark belief and the unwillingness to do some very basic things cost us. That comes down to the management who lack ideas who have made no changes to our lack lustre front-line despite its inability to score goals and today paid the price. I don't think that Hazel/Massey know what to do or have the contacts to bring in the right players and therefore should be considering their positions tonight.
I think anything other than a win on Monday should mean the termination of both their contracts if they don't walk. Before anyone says, yes I have changed my mind about the management but not the squad.

My thoughts are as follows....
No disrepect to Ian whom i knew previous to him becomming manager of the U's but I at the time thought it a very strange decision to appoint him in the first place.
His record at Tooting, Mollesley and Walton and Hersham was nothing special and then he was involved with Fulham so had not been involved in this level for a long time. Had he been successful at the above clubs then I could understand it but he had not. Since then when you consider he took over in March he had an extended pre season last year and we never pulled up any trees last season which was at best an average season then this year see's us in our worst position since i have been alive.
Something has to be done and soon. Either things turn around now or it is going to be 2 late. We should be challenging at the top of this division not sitting bottom and struggling to beat a pub team at home

I agree that the decision to take off Tanner, McBean and Greene was very odd. Take off your most likely players to score when you are 4-0 up, NOT when you are just a goal up. Pure stupidity. Although it was pretty obvious that scoring after 40 seconds didn't do us any favours. The penalty incident was a stupid tackle and we paid the price.
BUT - we WILL beat them on Monday. To be honest they offered little up front, and never looked like scoring. We have NOT lost this tie, and for every reason under the sun, we have to win on Monday. We can, and we will and it will be a convincing win. If we don't, I have to say that IH should offer his resignation straight away. If we can't beat a team 2 divisions below us who offered nothing then IH is not the right man to take us any further. In addition to the fact that we need the financial rewards a couple of cup wins will give us, its a must win game.
Positives - we were the better side. I don't think anyone can deny that one. And of course we dont have to go to Bromley on tuesday!!!!

Were the players taken off injured ? Baffling substitutions To be honest Warren's touch was awfull all afternoon, and Greene got a knock in the first half which he was clearly struggling with, but I do rate him as a good player!

Were the players taken off injured ? Baffling substitutions Don't know about Warren, but Greene did look like he had picked up a knock (as he looked to limp off the field), and i think Tanner mentioned that he may of had a knock when i was presenting him with Man of the Match. A frustrating afternoon to be sure, but it is at times at this we need to be United, as supporters behind our team. This start to the season has been painful, no more so than today, it was gutting, we didn't turn up for the 2nd half. We did have chances to pull clear today, i thought AJ was unlucky not to score in the 1st half and Pestle forced the Woodford 'keeper to make a great save. However silly errors in the 2nd half eventually cost us. But we need to put that all behind us and move forward to Monday night. It won't be easy but it can be done

Alas, we looked like we might start well, but it was not to be. I agree that it wasn't one of Warren's better games, but Greene did play well. I'm guessing he was taken off because he'd taken a knock, but couldn't see why Tanner went. He was having a good game and could have given more if he'd had the chance.
Looking at Ian's comments in the programme, he's saying the problem is lack of confidence but that morale is high. This seems a bit strange to me tbh. If the players are getting on well off the pitch and believing in themselves, then that's great. But in my opinion that is not showing on the pitch. It's very important to have good team spirit and morale off the pitch, but if that doesn't continue during games or evaporates without trace as soon as we concede a goal then we have a serious problem that needs to be addressed now. We need to find ways of keeping that up all the time not just on the coach and in the dressing rooms. How can morale be so good if the team have so little confidence?
Speaking to some of the players after the game, it seems that they feel the same way. When they go out there, it's definitely confidence that's lacking. People are saying that more experienced players might help that, but who is going to have to go to make way for them? We have a potentially very good team and I think each and every one of our current side is capable of results IF they have confidence and play together as a team. Players I spoke to are frustrated and fed up but find it hard to put their finger on exactly what the problem is.
I reckon that a good start would be to work hard on communication on the pitch. It's not great, quite frankly. If they learned to talk to each other more, then perhaps confidence would improve. What we need to be doing is something that makes us feel more like a team, a solid unit, rather than just a group of players playing together.
As Ian also said, it's very important for us to be behind the team as supporters. We are capable of providing fantastic support and at the moment that's the best thing we can do for the team. Let's really go for it now- they need good support more than ever and if we make the effort to work together we can make a difference. There's no point in being so negative especially when the problem is related to confidence. Yes, we might be feeling negative at a time when results all seem to be going against us, but if confidence is what the players need then we can help with that- we're supporters, and we're there to support. If we start slating players or yelling about how crap it is then how will that help confidence? Yes, it's frustrating, yes it's hard to keep it to yourself when you know the team can play so much better. But criticism like this is not constructive and all it can do is kill the little confidence our players have. Let's see if we can make a real effort and make some sort of a difference.
Monday night I'll be there giving all I can. I hope as many of us as possible can join in. This is the one thing we can do to help, so let's do it.

Right, let's get today's result in perspective which, is not what the lead of this thread has done. The Yeading result was by far our worst result on paper, we were in the Conference, they in the London Spartan League - albeit top - we lost 4-1 too. Arguably, the defeat by Chipstead was worse too, although that wasn't the FA Cup.
We were not alone as Hayes were held by Herne Bay.
Today just adds to the run of results we have had against lower status clubs, Uxbridge, Chipstead & Egham have all happened over the past two years.
As for today's game, I think they managed two shots on goal, the second being the penalty. Like last week the team paid the price for not taking their chances, especially after scoring so early.
I too don't understand the withdrawal of Warren & Craig. Waz may not have been at his best today, but he is the one guy who can unlock the most determined of defences & to take him off when we were only 1-0 up was, to be polite, and IMO, an error of judgement. I think Nicky Greene had been kicked twice during the game & may have come off with a knock.
I remember the Maidenhead game when Scarbs equalised. We made three changes after that & went 3-1 down. Surely, until the game is safe, it is best to keep your starting eleven on as long as possible? Perhaps last week's capitulation in the last 20 mins was in IH's mind but, the only way Woodford was going to score was in the way that they did & the game plan should have been to get the second. By weakening our attacking potential the likelihood of a second goal was reduced & 1-0 became 1-1.
This season appears to lurch from one low to another. Let's hope Monday doesn't take us lower. History is on U's side as the only defeat in an away replay in this round was that defeat on penalties at Stortford.
Even more annoying, is that I am still not sure I can get to the replay now!
