I can see arguments either way for playing 4 or 5 at the back - but either way I would have had Michael Boateng starting if he was fully fit. Did you miss his non performance at Salisbury? Maybe he was suffering with the bug that swept the squad, I certainly hope so.

Just to echo some of the comments above, on a personal note I found the playing staff, officials and supporters of Wrexham to be a real credit to their club, an excellent bunch and a pleasure to host, wish them all the best.

Maybe he was suffering with the bug that swept the squad, I certainly hope so. I have been caught out so many times by saying, why didnt this player or that play etc only too find out they took a knock in training or like Dundo at Bromley suffering from a bug? I would have liked to see a fit MB play yesterday but Dos isn't daft so will have his reasons. I too thought the Wrexham fans were a credit to their club standing with Sutton fans too without problem. The ref played a big part in destroying the game in the last 15 mins of the 1st half and I don't knw who was more shocked at HT, Wrexham or us? I do think we need to settle our attacking unit down, play it keep playing it and keep working on it, practice that movement and hitting the target. Its just so frustating to watch oppos on the ropes like Wrexham and not be able to put them on the canvas, like Cooper and Ali

Cooper did put Ali on the canvas but the fight was stopped cos our 'enry had a but cut over an eye & it wouldn't stop bleeding.

I'm a bit confused here - Wrexham won 5 - 0 ! Speaking of that , is this an ideal opportunity to put into practice sallycat's theory expounded in the Salisbury v Sutton thread ? sallycat wrote....
As others have pointed out, you don't need to have goals for a match to be exciting or a result to be good. Even a match with 5 or 6 goals only has actual goals being scored for less than 1% of the ninety minutes. Only takes a fraction of a second for a ball to cross the line!Have i got this right ? Do we ignore the 5 goals and concentrate on what a good match it was.

Well, if you were at the game Billy, why would you be confused?

Just doing the highlights and noticed that the ref appears to book Wrexham's no3 Ashton on 25mins but never shows the card or even appears to have it in his hand? I have never seen that before, sloppy lazy and poor or what And just how late does a challenge have to be for the ref to award a foul? /photo/1The video also confirms throw in given wrong way for 4th goal.

Firstly just like to say that although we scored 5, and could have scored 7 but for the woodwork, both are not a fair reflection on the whole of the game and especially the first 30 minutes. In commentary I said that you were first ot all second balls in that time and, with one or two calmer heads in front of goal, and with a lesser keeper between the sticks than Mayebi, the result would certainly have been a lot closer. For that first half hour we tried to play past our midfield whilst you went through yours and out wide and caused us all sorts of problems. I was in direct line with Ottaways' shot towards the top corner and Mayebi made a great save look simple. From the resulting corner (in fact from several corners in the game) you should have hit the target with good chances, but didn't. I will be interested to see the highlights because I didn't see, from where I was positioned, the foul leading to one of our goals that you all complain of (perhaps one-eyedness kicked in) but our first was certainly against the run of play (your keeper was unlucky not to keep it out) with the remaining three of the half being examples of clinical finishing. I know your local paper remarked that the loss of our top scorer gave you a chance but, as I had posted before the game, we score goals from everywhere and that is difficult to defend against. In addition our centrebacks were rock solid whenever you did roam forward. I know you are in a relegation fight at the moment but I would be surprised if there are not at least 3 teams worse than you and, with a bit of level headedness in front of goal, you should score more than you do. One worry, though, is that you have a team who try to play it on the ground but have a pitch that means you can struggle to do it and that leads to loss of confidence. Players who impressed me were Williams (who had Alfei's number quite often and, yes, Alfie is on a Premiership teams books), Kavanagh and Ottaway (not sure why some of your fans have criticised him). I also note one of you said Riviere was your man of the match but I thought he was anonymous for a lot of the game. Your players, staff and fans are a credit to the BSS and you have a tidy little clubhouse with a decent pint at a decent price. Part of me is sorry we stuck five past you.
Just a small part mind!

Still need a proven striker.I said it at the beginning of the season and got shot down in flames. It would make all the difference but of course they cost money.Certainly looked more than 775 there yesterday but a decent turnout neverthe less.

Delboy, you didn't get shot down in flames - at the start of the season we had Watkins, who scored over 20 last season, Payne who'd been seen with enough potential to be signed by a Premiership club outright, Ibe, who proved a asset to Chelmsford the previous season, and Kyle Vassell, who had been really impressive in pre-season. The fact that none of them have either had the opportunity to, or for one reason or another found no level of consistency is more the issue.
You are right in the respect that the forward line has been not up to standard all season, but I'd be interested to see who you'd class as a "proven" striker. We had one of those in Chukki Erribene a few seasons back and he failed, and even Richard Jolly had a huge mid season dip to such an extent that we had to loan him out.

Andy
Payne,Ibe & Vassell were not the answer as has been shown.Chucky was only here for the money and well past his best.
We need a young Andy Forbes type to partner Craig Watkins up front.Marvin is not that type of player and seems at his best out wide. We have a good team and we need a good finisher.

In PDs post match interview he says:
''..it has been difficult over the past few weeks financially with games being called off, and we have to make sure we react accordingly, so it may be necessary for one or two players to move on and that will give a chance to one or two of the reserve players we’ve signed on Blue Square South forms.''
To make financial sense the player/s to move on would be the higher earners. It would not take much guessing who that could be.
Could move on mean loan out?

Yes, an intriguing comment from Dos. With the way the league is at the moment even 50-plus points might not be enough to avoid the drop. Add in the prospect of more postponements, mid-term injuries and with a small squad to start with it could be a stretch for us if we have to ship out one or two experienced players but I can certainly understand the cash flow pressure that the club is under at the moment. Some tough weeks ahead between now and the spring.
