From the boro forum:
"I expect the next announcement to be that we are renamed to Fulchester Rovers and Billy the Fish is in goal."
Good to see that there are some honorable Boro fans who realise just what an embarrassment their club has become under the stewardship of the convicted fraudster who, suprisingly, has now confirmed that he has bought his own debt, and the club, back for an undisclosed sum. To work out the ins and outs of that deal you would need a degree in forensics.
You might think that the league would have something to say about this mob devaluing the Conf South and turning it into some money-grabbing joke with this kind of pathetic publicity stunt but you would be waiting a long time.

This is a weird one.
It is getting Farnborough some money and publicity (Talksport interviewed one of their celebrity fans earlier)and it will no doubt make it into some papers so they will view it as a positive. Whether they use the new income to pay those they may have defaulted on before though is another matter though.
The bigger picture is whether this is good for the perception of non league football. Does this whoring out a club to any ridiculous idea for a quick few quid reflect well on all clubs in non league and where do Paddy Power etc go next with their publicity scheme for Farnborough and any other non league club. This makes Macclesfields original idea of letting a fan pay to play in a league game look slightly sensible.
Is it wrong of me to look forward to Mourinho,Pele and Messi in a relegation dogfight? Not sure Paddy Power will be too happy then.

It just shows you are a team without serious intentions, it may bring publicity but not the right kind and it will give them a had time on the pitch. Apart from that my las reckons we should rename Dundo, Kenwyne Jones

And it wasn't well thought out. Becks wears 27, Cruyff is 14, Lineker 10. Oh, you lot weren't worried about that. OS - Dundas has just won gold in Russia - Kenwyne wouldn't have done that.

This LINK for the video. It starts well and would make a good promotion film for the club then it goes down hill...

I've seen it reported that the deal is worth a hundred grand. That should keep the gas meter thieves happy. I've also seen it reported that the whole thing is a not particularly cunning stunt and that the league would never agree to that raft of player re registrations. If it does turn up true they are going to cop a gob full of bile wherever they rock up this season with this pantomime and rightly so.

Do they seriously think none of those players are going to leave/no more are going to be brought in? Is everyone who plays for Farnborough going to have to change their name by deed poll?
Also, although obviously nobody can force anyone to change their name, I'm seriously uncomfortable with the ethics of an employer asking its staff to actually, officially change their names - something absolutely fundamental to a person's identity, not just as an individual but as part of a family. How would you explain to a small child why Daddy is receiving mail with a different name on it or why Daddy's name suddenly isn't the same as the rest of their/his family's? If your name is officially changed then that is what official documents and therefore things like bank accounts will have on them. Changing all of that is a lot to ask of someone. Why not just ask them to adopt pseudonyms, rather than changing their names by deed poll? Plenty of footballers around the world play under names other than the ones on their birth certificates. Fans don't see their league registrations so why does it matter?
I'm waiting for someone to tell me this is a joke.

I will be next year, but that's because I'm getting married and actually fits with the reasons I stated. When I have kids, I want everyone in the family to have the same surname
