Is the name bit a joke - there seems to be contradiction on Farnborough's offical website... On Tuesday it was a "Bit of a Joke" www.farnboroughfc.co.uk/2013/08/by-far-the-greatest-team-the-world-has-ever-seen/Yet the next day in the link I posted above it clearly states - "The extraordinary demand comes the day after Farnborough FC unveiled their new squad, where each player has changed their name by Deed Poll to a football legend."

The players have not changed their names by Deed Poll. It a publicity stunt. It's quite obvious the whole thing is a publicity stunt. But to put out an official press release on the official website stating the above is probably a little bit more than a publicity stunt don't you think? Does this also mean that the 100k Bond the league are asking for in the same press release is also a publicity stunt? If so they are idiots. If not, then putting that in the statement will probably result in a ticking off if it is not true, and a loss of even more dignity Mr Not So Special Day and his crew may have had.

I think they have to be a little bit careful as they could end getting done for bringing the game into disrepute.

I think they have to be a little bit careful as they could end getting done for bringing the game into disrepute. Think they've done that a few times in the last 10 years or so

Throw them out before this pantomime drags the league deeper into disrepute and ends up leaving the rest of us not knowing whether our games against these clowns are on or off . Nows the time to do it before this sideshow poisons the rest of the season. This is what happens when the conf allow themselves to be played like a fiddle by gas meter thieves fraudsters and publicists who could not give a toss.. Before anyone screams what about the real fans I reckon they would also be better off ending this sordid soap opera and retaining some sanity.

Viewing the 'Boro forum, a number of their fans fail to appreciate their club's involvement in all this and are accusing the Conference of being vindictive. It would appear a 1500 deadline was in place for 5 actions to be completed and apparently 4 of them were not met.
I think the Conference left it a tad late and one has to sympathise with Chelmsford but have Farnborough not had long enough to sort this mess out? They went into admin in April. As we are well aware there has been a bit of infighting in the club when they may have been better served sorting this mess out in time.
A point on this use of legends names as part of the PP sponsorship. A lot of these players have image rights. I don't know the legal ins and outs of these rights but would using say David Beckham's name to publicise a sponsorship deal or indeed anything without permission be in breach? If so, they could end up with law suits and all the financial implications that would bring. Just a thought.

Yeah. Imagine if we were playing them tomorrow only to hear tonight that the game is off because they can't get the bond in place despite the hundred grand from paddy power. Wonder where that went? Answers on a postcard to Rip Off Britain. Gutted for the Chelmsford fans whose start to the season has been wrecked.. Couldn't give a toss about the joke club. Holding my breath for the fraudsters explanation.

Good. Hopefully the blazers will wake up to what's really going on here and pull the plug and allow the rest of us to get on with playing football without having to dip our toes in this cesspit.

Because then, they would only be using their own names - after all, lots of people in the world share names. Perhaps that was the point of doing it?
