Really looking forward to this match & I think , win or lose its a cracking draw.. A real rest for us and with a bit of luck a winnable cup tie..... We've had some great matches against the shots.... I remember us playing them in a FA cup game in 1987 when the shots were a league team... We won 3-0 ... Paul McKinnon was brilliant that day & I remember us playing fantastic, then our cup run continued to Peterbough in R2, Middlesbrough F3..... With Mark golley heading a equaliser to send us to ayresome park for a replay ..... ( I'm sure mark f can confirm this is 'just about correct!!) a similar cup run would be fab this season .... Let's get right behind the team... & .. Come on you u's!!!

Just in case you were not aware, Aldershot segregate their fans, and it's £17 for terracing, and I think £19 for seats.
As for the 87 cup run - my first season supporting Sutton, and the Aldershot game was my 3rd ever. And it was a fantastic game too!! And not forgetting beating Aldershot 5-0 the night we won the Ryman League in 1999. All good memories!

That 5-0 is (obviously) one of my best ever SUFC memories. I'm not sure forking out £17 will be though On the bright side, that's £17 that our club will get a half share in.

Be aware that the concession rate applies to the over 65's not over 60's as we do

I've watched us play at the Recreation Ground (as I prefer to call it) three times and we've lost all three, so, as the inherent bad omen, perhaps I ought to do the club a favour and opt out of this one!
Great memories from April 1999 though, when we clinched the Ryman league title. Boy did we play well that night. From the moment Richard Skelly swept in that first goal early on, everything went right. All culminating in that crowd invasion as soon as the final whistle went! That game is in my top 3 favourite Sutton matches. Not far behind though was that remarkable 4-1 win at Buckingham Road a week or two earlier that effectively ended Aylesbury's challenge. Memories of David Harlow taking the piss at the end by getting on his knees and doing a duck impression!! Happy, happy days.

As an aside, when calculating what our share of any gate might be:-
First, remember to deduct the VAT Secondly, all match expenses must be deducted (eg travel costs, match officials, floodlighting etc) The 50-50 split only takes effect on what's is left.

Is it 50-50 or do the FA still get a percentage ?

do the FA still get a percentage ? I don't think that applies to Non-league sides. I does seem strange the FA taking a cut and then giving the winner prize money. Or is it the sponsors?

What a difference a season makes. I am so proud of how we bounced back from last seasons performances. We can look ahead to the next few months with much enthusiasm. Unfortunately due to work commitments I cant see any more games until the 2nd of November however because the season ticket was such good value ive already got my money back and most of them have been winning performances:) up the u'ssss!!!

In the qualifying rounds it's a simple 50-50 split of any profit between the two clubs (or a shared loss !).
In the competition proper, if I recall correctly and it hasn't changed, it is one-third to each club and one-third to the FA.....UNLESS one of the clubs is a non-League side in which case their share remains at 50%.
The prize money comes from the sponsorship. I believe the FA's "cut" is to cover the administrative costs of managing the competition.
Whatever the Premier League clubs think these days, the FA Cup remains a massively important competition to non-League clubs. The excitement and the chance of glory are, to me anyway, still of huge significance but let's be frank, how many industries can you think of where 90 minutes' work could bring in 5% of annual income.

That applies to most of us The side needs our support on Saturday. Anyone that doesn't go could miss a special occasion

I've never been to The Rec and unfortunately won't be able to make the trip on Saturday ether as I'm moving this weekend. Out of interest have we ever won at Aldershot? I recall we drew 1-1 there on the opening day of the season back in 2000 as that was our first game back in the Ryman after our relegation from the conference.

We did the double over them in that championship-winning season of 98/99. Beat them 2-1 at their place early in the season.
